A (very) small and non-exhaustive list of ChiFi stores in 2023

Thanks to the well implemented dac chips on the PCBs

and advancements in power supply circuits now we can enjoy

quite a remarkable audio experience hooking a usb dac to any pc

pairing it with power amp or powered speakers or eims.

For 2023 I’ve settled with smsl su-9 pro + hypex250 (non-chifi)

power amplifier, paid special attention to cabling.

Filtered the power outlets against emi and dark magic.

A pair of passive speakers from brands like monitor audio and elac

also compliment my humble audio setup.

I rarely use headphones at home so a simple topping dx3 pro+ 

just does the job. For portable HiFi I’ll stick to a dac that supports

phone calls, produces *bearable* sound for music and pimp that 

shit up with a good mofo cables 2pin plugged to whatever EIMs 

the current ChiFi market is offering for less than $500

Be it Moondrop Aria or Truthear Zero or Dunu Vulkan as long as

the sound is enjoyable I’m good.

For casual audio on TV I’m fine with Cambridge audio DM200

and Aiyima a08 pro + 350W psu to keep my Elacs in line.

Expecting Rohm chip based dac products, till then ESS all the way.
